Meet Leighton Keen, LMFT
Leighton Keen, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Tennessee Reproductive Therapy and the clinical director of Arkansas Reproductive Therapy. With a deep commitment to women and couples walking through reproductive and maternal mental health challenges, Leighton believes in the transformative power of therapy to foster growth, and healing, and offer the support needed to sustain ongoing stressors.
Leighton earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is a licensed therapist in both Tennessee and Arkansas having completed additional trainings as a Certified Family Trauma Professional, training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s mental health professional modules.
With over 10 years of experience in the field, Leighton has worked in various settings, including private practice, community mental health, and with adoption and foster care. Her areas of expertise include infertility, pregnancy loss, pregnancy after loss, birth trauma, pregnancy, postpartum, and adoption. She has extensive experience working with women and couples struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, and trauma associated with their journey to or through parenthood. Leighton is an active member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Leighton’s journey into reproductive and maternal mental health was inspired by her own experiences with recurrent pregnancy loss which ignited her passion for helping others through lonely and complicated paths to parenthood. She believes in a client-centered approach to therapy, the importance of empathy, and creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard and valued.
Leighton is passionate about cultural competency and believes in providing a safe space for all races, ethnicities, and faith backgrounds. She tailors her therapeutic methods to meet the unique needs of each client, incorporating techniques from CBT, narrative therapy, and mindfulness practices. Leighton is dedicated to empowering her clients and working collaboratively with them to achieve their therapeutic goals.
Leighton’s professional experience as a therapist and personal experience as a mother after loss allow her to offer a unique empathy to make clients feel heard and validated in their struggles. Her passion for healthy relationships, healthy boundaries, self-advocacy, and self-care empowers clients to feel a renewed sense of hope and inner peace walking forward.
Leighton was born and raised in Arkansas, moved to Nashville, Tennessee for five years post-grad, and currently resides in Little Rock, Arkansas. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys making gluten and dairy-free meals, has traveled extensively, and finds a guilty pleasure in online shopping. Leighton is a toddler girl mom, a zoo member, and frequents library storytime. She is an active member of her church and values spending quality time with her family and friends.
