Meet Emily Burgess, LMSW, PMH-C

Emily Burgess, LMSW, PMH-C, is a Licensed Master Social Worker from Franklin, Tennessee. Emily views human connection as fundamental to our well-being, no matter if you’re 14 years old going through puberty with body image issues or 35 years old having marriage struggles after pregnancy loss. Her extensive training encompasses the client as a whole and brings a little laughter and humor into her sessions to create a warm and nurturing therapeutic environment.

Emily is also the Director and a counselor at SheBlooms, a division of Tennessee Reproductive Therapy that offers counseling services to empower teen girls and young women as they bloom into the next version of themselves.

Emily earned her LMSW from the University of Tennessee and her BSW from Lipscomb University. She has been working with at-risk adults and adolescents since 2013 in Tennessee and Colorado in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. Emily is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional through Postpartum Support International, and her expertise is in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, and is currently pursuing a certification as a Mental Health and Nutrition Clinical Specialist (CMNCS) to treat her clients with a more integrative approach. Emily is also a member of the Nashville Association of Christian Counselors.

Emily originally pursued therapy to work with adolescents, but after personally experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, pregnancy, and postpartum, she is now professionally trained to support her clients through the trenches of their reproductive stories and life stages of the female experience, from adolescence to adulthood.

Emily believes in creating a safe space for her clients to land at different points in through life- to allow them to be seen, met with compassion, and embraced as exactly who they are to create a better quality of life. Emily tailors her therapeutic strategy to meet the needs of the individual client, couple, or family through techniques such as CBT, ACT, EFIT, DBT, and others.

Emily truly views her role as a therapist as a mission and finds purpose in meeting her clients in their own little corners of the world to make it a better place specifically for them. Healing starts in the small spaces, and Emily would be honored to be a part of your healing journey. After meeting with Emily, you will feel validated, heard, and excited to do the work together.

Outside of therapy, you’ll find Emily riding her Peloton, baking cookies, binge-watching a good competition show, or chasing her kiddos around the house. Emily is passionate about eating whole foods and exercising to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and even taught barre for nearly a decade.

Emily Counselor at Tennessee Reproductive Therapy

I needed someone to help me navigate life after my stillbirth. I was ready for life with my son and didn't know what to do with my life without him. I am so glad that my doctor recommended Tennessee Reproductive Therapy. I wouldn't have survived without their support.
